On 10 February 2026, VNUHCM鈥揢niversity of Science (HCMUS) and Thong Nhat Hospital (Ministry of Health) have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in the fields of education and scientific research. The ceremony took place at the HCMUS Nguyen Van Cu campus.

Regarding HCMUS, the ceremony was attended by Associate Professor Tr岷 L锚 Quan 鈥� President; Professor Ng么 膼岷 Nghi峄噋 鈥� Head of External Relations; Associate Professor Tr瓢啤ng H岷 Nhung 鈥� Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology; Dr B霉i Th峄� Nh瓢 Ng峄峜 鈥� Vice Dean; Professor 膼岷穘g Th峄� Ph瓢啤ng Th岷 鈥� Head of the Molecular Biotechnology Laboratory; and Professor Tr岷 L锚 B岷 H脿 鈥� Head of the Tissue Engineering and Biomedical Materials Laboratory, alongside representatives from various university units.

Representing Thong Nhat Hospital were Associate Professor L锚 膼矛nh Thanh 鈥� Director; Associate Professor V玫 Th脿nh To脿n 鈥� Vice Director of the Institute of Applied Health Sciences and Ageing; and Dr L瓢u Ph瓢峄沜 L峄 鈥� Head of Biomedical Sciences, accompanied by specialists from the hospital鈥檚 clinical divisions.

Under the terms of the agreement, both institutions have committed to a long-term partnership focused on three strategic pillars.

Firstly, the two parties shall coordinate in the research and development of scientific projects within the biomedical sector, encompassing medical data mining, professional knowledge exchange, and the application of laboratory techniques and biomedical experimentation. Clinical research and trials will be conducted in strict accordance with institutional mandates and prevailing legal regulations. Both sides shall share ownership of scientific outputs resulting from joint studies, aiming to standardise research and clinical applications in line with international benchmarks.

Secondly, Thong Nhat Hospital will serve as a host institution for HCMUS students and postgraduates, providing opportunities for site visits, short-term observations, and long-term internships. Students will be supported in conducting theses and research projects under the joint supervision of academics and clinical experts from both organisations. Furthermore, continuous professional development will be enhanced through the exchange of lecturers and specialists for advanced education modules.

Thirdly, both institutions will co-organise courses, seminars, conferences, and periodic education programmes. These activities are designed to foster professional growth and enhance the technical skills of staff, researchers, and students specialising in relevant fields.

 

During the ceremony, representatives from both organisations emphasised that strengthening ties between academic institutions and healthcare providers is vital for improving educational quality, expanding practical and research opportunities for learners, and contributing to the development of a highly-skilled biomedical workforce capable of addressing modern societal demands.

On 14 November, VNUHCM-University of Science (HCMUS) organised the signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Silesia in Katowice (USIL), Poland. The event took place within the framework of the 20th-anniversary celebration of the Oceanography discipline, attended by leaders of both universities, representatives from faculties and departments, and numerous lecturers and students.

The MoU was signed to strengthen academic exchange, promote training and research collaboration, and expand scientific development opportunities between the two Higher Education Institutions. The cooperation contents focus on the exchange of undergraduate and postgraduate students, creating conditions for participants to access an international training environment, experience practical research, and enhance specialist competence. Furthermore, the two universities agreed to boost the exchange of lecturers and researchers for interdisciplinary teaching and research activities, contributing to expanding the academic vision and international experience for the specialist staff.

In the field of scientific research, HCMUS and USIL aim to implement joint cooperative projects, establish inter-university research groups, and co-organise international workshops and conferences to foster knowledge sharing, broaden the expert network, and improve the quality of scientific publications. The two parties also agreed to exchange learning materials, scientific publications, and academic resources to support training, research, and programme development activities.

The signing of the MoU between VNUHCM-University of Science and the University of Silesia in Katowice marks a new step in the University鈥檚 internationalisation strategy, simultaneously opening up more learning, research, and academic exchange opportunities for students and lecturers. The cooperation is expected to contribute to enhancing training quality, strengthening international integration, and promoting the strengths of the two universities in the fields of natural sciences, environmental studies, and interdisciplinary research.

On 30 October, VNUHCM-University of Science (HCMUS) formally received a distinguished delegation from Universit茅 de Nantes (France) to engage in strategic dialogue regarding collaborative training and research, with a view towards the formalisation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Universit茅 de Nantes is recognised as a premier French public institution and a prominent member of the European University Alliance (EUniWell). Distinguished by the academic excellence in biomedicine, life sciences, materials science, and environmental engineering, the university enrols in excess of 40,000 students鈥攊ncluding more than 5,000 postgraduate researchers鈥攁nd maintains a robust network of strategic partnerships with leading European research institutes and industrial enterprises.

The delegation was comprised of Prof. Laetitia Guevel, Prof. Laetitia Rolland, Prof. Violaine Grollier, and Prof. Jean-Luc Duvail鈥攅minent experts in the fields of biomedicine, immunology, advanced materials, and international relations. Representing HCMUS were Assoc. Prof. Ng么 膼岷 Nghi峄噋, Head of the Office of External Relations, and Dr. B霉i Th峄� Nh瓢 Ng峄峜, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Biology – Biotechnology, alongside senior representatives from the faculties of biology and materials science.

During the bilateral meeting, consensus was reached to prioritise collaboration within biotechnology, materials science, life sciences, environmental studies, and the application of Artificial Intelligence in biomedical research. Proposed avenues for cooperation encompass the development of co-tutelle (joint supervision) doctoral programmes; the facilitation of academic exchanges for students, researchers, and faculty; the establishment of dual degree curricula; and the joint organisation of summer schools, scientific workshops, and seminars at both institutions.

Furthermore, both parties pledged to foster the creation of joint research groups and to co-develop proposals for international funding within the framework of 水果派AV解说鈥揊rance cooperation schemes or European Union initiatives, notably Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe.

In a significant gesture of support, Universit茅 de Nantes extended a proposal to receive one to two HCMUS students annually for six-month internships in France. These positions are to be supported by a fully funded scholarship and a monthly stipend of up to 鈧�1,000, with candidate selection adjudicated through the Campus France system and academic interviews.

Representatives from both sides engaging in in-depth discussions on cooperation opportunities.

Both institutions acknowledged the synergistic potential of this partnership, noting that the foundational research capabilities of HCMUS effectively complement the applied focus and European research ecosystem of Universit茅 de Nantes. The parties agreed to sustain regular communication, expedite the ratification of the Memorandum of Understanding, and schedule a bilateral scientific symposium to be convened at HCMUS in 2026.
