On 26 July, the 膼ong Thap Standing Volunteer Team of the 2026 Green Summer Campaign at VNUHCM鈥揢niversity of Science (HCMUS) collaborated with the Standing Committee of the Lap Vo Commune Youth Union to organise the 鈥淐huy岷縩 xe y锚u th瓢啤ng鈥 (Journey of Kindness) programme. During the programme, the 膼ong Thap Standing Volunteer Team also presented a number of youth-led community projects developed in response to local needs. The lighting project comprises 65 solar-powered street lights installed along a 1.8-kilometre road in Binh Hoa 3 Hamlet, Lap Vo Commune, 膼ong Thap Province. Beyond improving visibility for local residents, the project contributes to public safety, traffic safety and more convenient travel after dark, while promoting renewable energy, supporting the vision of a 鈥淏right 鈥 Green 鈥 Clean 鈥 Beautiful鈥 environment and encouraging greater environmental awareness within the community.

On 6 June, the Faculty of Geology at the VNUHCM鈥揢niversity of Science (HCMUS) hosted a symposium entitled 鈥楲and Management and Land Economics in the Context of Digital Transformation, AI Technology and Sustainable Urban Development鈥. The event brought together the participation of policymakers, experts, scientists, lecturers and students from the fields of geology, geoinformatics, land management, and urban planning and development.

As Ho Chi Minh City enters a new phase of development with increasingly stringent requirements for urban governance, digital transformation and sustainable growth, the symposium served as an academic forum to connect perspectives from state management, science and technology, and urban development practices. In doing so, the seminar helped clarify the role of geospatial data, digital technology and geological science in supporting policy formulation, land resource management and urban spatial organisation.

In the opening remarks, Associate Professor Ph岷 Trung Hi岷縰, Dean of the Faculty of Geology at HCMUS, noted that the profound shifts driven by digital transformation impose new demands on resource management and urban development. According to the Dean of Faculty, technologies such as GIS, UAVs, artificial intelligence and geospatial data systems no longer function merely as technical tools; instead, these advancements are becoming fundamental platforms supporting decision-making processes in planning, land management and sustainable urban development.

Over 100 delegates, including scientists, conservation experts, policymakers and farmers, have attended a seminar entitled 鈥淓cological Approaches to Golden Apple Snail Management in Rice Fields鈥. The event aimed to identify effective pest control strategies, reduce chemical dependency and promote sustainable agricultural development across the Mekong Delta.

On 28 May 2026, the VNUHCM鈥揢niversity of Science (HCMUS) collaborated with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap Province to host the seminar in Tram Chim Commune, Dong Thap Province. Attendees included Mr L锚 H脿 Lu芒n, Director of the Dong Thap Department of Agriculture and Environment; Mr V膬n Ch铆 Nam, Vice President of HCMUS; alongside more than 100 representatives from the scientific community, conservation bodies, local government and the regional farming sector.

The seminar brought together prominent experts in ecology, agriculture and plant protection from HCMUS, VNU Ha Noi University of Science, Can Tho University, the Southern Plant Protection Centre, and the Ca Mau Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection. Representatives from global conservation bodies, including the IUCN, WWF, and Tram Chim National Park, also contributed to the discussions.

Scientists presented numerous research papers focusing on the biological and ecological characteristics of the golden apple snail. The discussions highlighted integrated biological management strategies designed to minimise pesticide use and preserve biodiversity within paddy fields.

According to the experts, the golden apple snail remains one of the most pervasive pests in rice cultivation, particularly during the early seedling stage. However, management of this species should move away from an exclusive reliance on chemical pesticides. Instead, farmers are encouraged to adopt a combination of ecological measures, such as careful water level regulation, manual collection, botanical traps, duck grazing, or the promotion of natural predators to control snail populations. Chemical treatments should only serve as a final resort when biological methods prove insufficient.

Delegates noted that this ecological approach not only lowers production costs but also protects the paddy ecosystem, maintains biodiversity and enhances agricultural product quality.

Dr Tr岷 Tri岷縯, an ecologist representing HCMUS and the International Crane Foundation, observed that the presence of birds, fish, crabs, amphibians, beneficial insects and natural predators indicates a healthy, functioning ecosystem. When managed correctly, this biodiversity serves as a natural support system that helps farmers protect crops more effectively.

A central theme of interest among participants was the concept of treating rice fields not merely as food production sites, but as living ecosystems. Within these habitats, wild species play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance, controlling pests and reducing the pressure to use agricultural chemicals. The specialists also clarified that ecological agriculture does not imply sacrificing yields or returning to outdated farming practices. On the contrary, this scientific approach aims to reduce input costs, mitigate environmental impacts and deliver safer produce for consumers.

The active participation of over 30 local rice farmers from Dong Thap was a key highlight of the seminar. Practical insights from real-world farming helped scientists and policymakers evaluate the feasibility of the proposed solutions.

Such issues share a common requirement for operation at a massive scale, heavy reliance on multi-source data, and a need for advanced computational, simulation, and analytical capabilities. First, to jointly develop and implement continuous training programmes in Medical Physics under Circular 32/2023/TT-BYT, focusing on practice in Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine, for final-year students and recent graduates in related disciplines. Second, to promote an Institute鈥揌ospital collaboration model, under which the hospital annually welcomes students and postgraduate learners for observation, internships, and thesis work, while creating opportunities for lecturers and experts from both sides to participate in teaching and practical supervision. Third, to strengthen scientific research collaboration in Medical Physics and Health Sciences through joint projects and shared professional activities.

 

In their remarks, representatives from both institutions affirmed the importance of connecting training institutions and healthcare facilities to enhance teaching quality, broaden clinical practice opportunities for learners, and contribute to developing high-quality human resources to meet social needs.

Following the signing ceremony, the delegation from the University of Science toured the facilities and professional systems of Xuyen A General Hospital to gain a better understanding of the operations and to prepare for the effective implementation of the cooperation activities in the near future.

On 8 July, VNUHCM-University of Science (HCMUS) officially launched the first academic activities within the framework of AUN Summer Camp 2025 in 水果派AV解说. The programme, hosted by VNUHCM from 6 to 19 July 2025, welcomes over 80 students from Southeast Asian countries.

The day before, on 7 July, AUN students attended a general orientation at the Headquarters, accompanied by networking and cultural engagement activities. These initial events helped students familiarise themselves with a multicultural academic environment and begin forming an international student community ready for academic collaboration and cross-disciplinary innovation.

After the general orientation, academic activities officially began at HCMUS 鈥 the first university in 水果派AV解说 to host this year鈥檚 academic programme.

In his opening address, Assoc. Prof. Tr岷 Minh Tri岷縯, Vice President of HCMUS, stated: “This is not only an opportunity for students to learn and make new friends, but also a journey of cultural exploration, culinary discovery, and connection with the local community. We believe young people play a crucial role in creating practical solutions to climate change 鈥 one of the most urgent global challenges today.”

The 水果派AV解说 programme is part of the regional 鈥 an annual international academic exchange coordinated by the ASEAN University Network (AUN). This regional initiative runs from May to September 2025 and is held at 11 member universities across seven countries: Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and 水果派AV解说.

As the first host institution for academic content in 水果派AV解说, HCMUS opened with two interdisciplinary sessions reflecting the programme鈥檚 overarching theme: 鈥淪ustainable Solutions and Youth Innovation in Climate Change.鈥

The session encouraged students to think across disciplines and understand the role of technology in sustainable development and digital transformation.

Beyond theoretical learning, the programme quickly transitioned into group-based activities to lay the foundation for students鈥 final academic projects.

Following the two lectures, AUN students 鈥 from over 30 member universities and diverse fields such as environment, information technology, communication, education, law, and logistics, among others 鈥 engaged in group discussions and were introduced to academic supervisors from VNUHCM. These interactions marked the start of collaborative work in international groups, leading to the development of personal essays, poster presentations, and youth-led project proposals, which will be presented and evaluated at the end of the camp.

A student from Thailand shared that although the first few days in Ho Chi Minh City felt unfamiliar, the opportunity to connect with peers from across the region, showcase cultural identity, and explore Vietnamese academic life has been exciting.

This year, VNUHCM-University of Science (HCMUS) achieved notable success with four projects receiving awards: three Third Prizes and one Consolation Prize in core areas such as Healthcare and Information technology – Electronics 鈥 Telecommunications.

In the Healthcare category, a research team from the , comprising Prof. Tr岷 V膬n Hi岷縰, MSc. L锚 Kh谩nh Thi锚n, MSc. Tr岷 Nguy峄卬 Thu Minh, and BSc. Nguy峄卬 Th峄 L峄 Giang, was awarded a Third Prize for the project 鈥淏iocompatible polymer-based nanospheres and hydrogel films incorporating fibroblast growth factor (FGF-2) for third-degree burn treatment.鈥 The solution represents an advanced application of biotechnology aimed at improving treatment for severe burns, offering promising potential for clinical use.

In the Information Technology – Electronics – Telecommunications category, two projects received Third Prizes, reflecting the University鈥檚 technological strength. The project 鈥淐ombining local and global features with contrastive learning and deep supervision for tumour segmentation鈥 provides an innovative approach to enhance accuracy in medical image analysis. The second project, 鈥淒ermAI 鈥 A chatbot assistant for skin lesion diagnosis using vision-language models,鈥 applies state-of-the-art artificial intelligence in healthcare. The project was undertaken at the Software Engineering Laboratory by MSc. Hu峄硁h Vi岷縯 Th谩m and MSc. Nguy峄卬 Tr峄峮g Thu岷璶.

Additionally, the project 鈥淪mart idea design system鈥 by BSc. V玫 膼矛nh Kh么i and BSc. Nguy峄卬 Ho脿ng Ph煤c, supervised by Dr. L锚 Trung Ngh末a from the Faculty of Information Technology, received a Consolation Prize. The project highlights an effort to develop digital tools that encourage creativity and support ideation processes in technological environments.
