On 18 and 23 July, HCMUS solemnly held the Graduation Ceremony for the First Cohort of Bachelor of Science Graduates in 2026, conferring degrees upon 833 students, including 117 individuals who completed their academic programmes ahead of schedule.
A degree marking the commencement of lifelong learning
Delivering the ceremonial address, Assoc. Prof. Tr岷 L锚 Quan, President of HCMUS, extended warm congratulations to the new graduates on completing their degree programmes. The degree conferred today represents not only individual academic triumph, but also the dedicated mentorship of the faculty alongside the steadfast support and quiet sacrifice of families.
According to the President, the world is undergoing rapid transformation driven by digital conversion, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, climate change, shifting labour markets, and wider global developments. Such dynamic shifts offer unprecedented opportunities whilst demanding that every individual continuously update their knowledge, enhance professional capabilities, and adapt proactively. Assoc. Prof. Tr岷 L锚 Quan expressed high expectations that the new graduates would uphold the scientific spirit, maintain professional integrity, and remain committed to societal contribution, whilst applying acquired expertise to address the practical demands of the nation in this new era.
From graduation day onwards, the relationship between students and HCMUS transitions into a fresh phase. The institution hopes that alumni will remain closely connected with their alma mater, returning to share professional insights, refresh their knowledge, collaborate in academic training and research, and foster a thriving, sustainable alumni community.
Carrying the University of Science ethos into the future
Representing the graduating class, 膼峄 Ti峄乶 H岷鈥攚ho graduated with First-Class Honours in Mathematics, achieving a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 9.51 alongside outstanding achievements in academics and scientific research鈥攕hared a thoughtful message on creativity, resilience, and the drive for continuous learning.
According to Ti峄乶 H岷, the road ahead presents both opportunities and challenges. Throughout this journey, the spirit forged within HCMUS will serve as an essential asset, enabling new graduates to step forward with confidence, working with dedication, ambition, and pride in their alma mater.
Fellow graduate 膼inh Th峄 脕nh Linh, graduating with First-Class Honours from the High-Quality Programme, offered a distinct perspective on success. Rather than pursuing immediate outcomes, 脕nh Linh highlighted the importance of patiently cultivating capability and preparing for the future.
Through the metaphor of “growing pasture to attract the herd”, 脕nh Linh noted that when individuals invest sufficient time in nurturing knowledge, skills, and inner strength, opportunities no longer need to be frantically sought out. A solid foundation enables young professionals to recognise opportunities, seize them effectively, and progress further when the right moment arrives.
To 脕nh Linh, setbacks encountered during study, research, or laboratory experiments do not mark an end, but rather serve as vital data points for understanding personal limits, refining methodology, and achieving ongoing progress. Growth occurs at varied paces for everyone; the essential factor is never abandoning one’s personal development simply because results are not instantly visible.
In their remarks at the ceremony, both Ti峄乶 H岷 and 脕nh Linh expressed heartfelt gratitude to the faculty and their families. Members of the academic staff imparted knowledge, analytical frameworks, and confidence in the intrinsic value of science, whilst families provided a quiet pillar of strength through challenging periods.
Departing the university halls, each graduate carries knowledge into new fields, new positions, and developing aspirations. Though the path ahead may present obstacles, the experiences gained here will serve as a constant reminder of the capacity to rise, begin anew, and press onward. HCMUS will always remain a proud memory, a welcoming home to return to, and a reminder that great endeavours stem from daily perseverance.
