As part of the Conference to “Announce the Strategic Direction for Science, Technology, and Innovation of VNUHCM for the 2026鈥2030 period” and the Signing Ceremony for task implementation between the VNUHCM Innovation Centre and member universities on 16 May 2026, VNUHCM presented Letters of Appreciation to research groups and scientists who have made outstanding contributions to the system’s scientific, technological, and innovative activities. The project, titled “Solutions for enhancing charge carrier mobility in transparent electrode layers,” is regarded as holding significant potential for applications in advanced materials and electronic technology.

During the session, the parties focused on collaborative initiatives to enhance educational quality, as well as to identify and nurture students with exceptional abilities in Mathematics at the undergraduate level. Discussions also covered the establishment of a roadmap for an elite doctoral education programme in the coming phase.

For the Honours Programme in Mathematics, the parties agreed to implement a series of advanced lectures featuring national and international experts invited by VIASM. Furthermore, VIASM shall provide financial support to the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science to facilitate the organisation, management, and operation of the programme according to high academic standards.

Professor Ng么 B岷 Ch芒u outlines the strategic orientation for enhancing educational quality and the selection mechanisms for the Honours Programme in Mathematics.

According to the proposal, the Honours class expects to enrol a maximum of 30 students per cohort, with all successful candidates receiving 100% tuition fee support.

Furthermore, outstanding students will be considered for monthly stipends at two distinct levels; the 15 million VND per month stipend requires candidates to pass a direct interview with Professor Ng么 B岷 Ch芒u and the VIASM Professional Council, while the remaining students shall undergo a specialised assessment to qualify for the 7.5 million VND per month support level.

On 19 January, the Faculty of Geology at VNUHCM鈥揢niversity of Science (HCMUS) held an introductory meeting with the Central 水果派AV解说 Geological Division at their headquarters in Gia Lai Province. The discussion aimed towards the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions.

Furthermore, the Division will provide geological specimens for the Faculty鈥檚 gallery and collaborate with academic staff to advance laboratory analysis and high-tech applications.

As part of the programme, Assoc. Prof. Kenta Kawaguchi presented recent research findings and discussed international cooperation in geology and minerals, opening new avenues for future scientific development.

From the academic perspective, Assoc. Prof. Ng么 膼岷 Nghi峄噋 shared that HCMUS always values the spirit of lifelong learning and professional ethics鈥攖wo competencies integrated into the University鈥檚 graduate output standards. The Professor analysed that enterprises and academia often have a 鈥榩hase difference鈥 in goals鈥攕cientists pursue deep, long-term research, while enterprises require quick results to meet business strategies. The Professor emphasised: 鈥淢ost research within the University is still limited to a laboratory scale. For commercialisation, enterprises need to participate early, collaborating right from the testing phase.鈥

From the market perspective, Ms T峄 L锚 Thanh Vy noted that the demand for product innovation is increasingly tied to criteria that are green, safe, and environmentally friendly. The company is actively seeking raw materials and processes aligned with green science to meet the increasingly stringent requirements of consumers and export markets.

According to Dr Hu峄硁h K峄 Tr芒n, the most important foundation for sustainable production is professional ethics. The doctor argued that the misuse of active ingredients, excessive advertising, or inflating product prices for luxurious packaging harms the community. The doctor stated: 鈥淧rofessionals must maintain boundaries, preserve reputation, and prioritise community benefit over immediate profit.鈥

The programme also created conditions for students to access enterprise realities, understanding recruitment requirements, internship criteria, and the necessary competencies when joining R&D teams in the fields of cosmetics, food, and the environment. This provided an opportunity for the participants to gain a clearer understanding of their future profession, while also opening up possibilities for participating in applied projects with enterprises.

On 21 October 2025, VNUHCM-University of Science (HCMUS) convened the Signing Ceremony for a Cooperation Agreement with VNUHCM-University of Health Sciences (VNUHCM-UHS). According to the Memorandum, the two parties agreed to establish long-term cooperation in three key areas. First, to jointly develop and implement continuous training programmes in Medical Physics under Circular 32/2023/TT-BYT, focusing on practice in Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine, for final-year students and recent graduates in related disciplines. Second, to promote an Institute鈥揌ospital collaboration model, under which the hospital annually welcomes students and postgraduate learners for observation, internships, and thesis work, while creating opportunities for lecturers and experts from both sides to participate in teaching and practical supervision. Third, to strengthen scientific research collaboration in Medical Physics and Health Sciences through joint projects and shared professional activities.

 

In their remarks, representatives from both institutions affirmed the importance of connecting training institutions and healthcare facilities to enhance teaching quality, broaden clinical practice opportunities for learners, and contribute to developing high-quality human resources to meet social needs.

Following the signing ceremony, the delegation from the University of Science toured the facilities and professional systems of Xuyen A General Hospital to gain a better understanding of the operations and to prepare for the effective implementation of the cooperation activities in the near future.

An overview of the laboratory.

On 29 September, the Faculty of Information Technology at VNUHCM-University of Science, (HCMUS) inaugurated two cutting-edge facilities: the Laboratory of Information Security and the Laboratory of Intelligent Systems.

According to Assoc. Prof. Tr岷 L锚 Quan, President of HCMUS, the two laboratories were established under a VNUHCM investment programme for 2020鈥2025 with a total budget of VND 70 billion (approximately 拢2.2 million). Nearly 60 per cent of the funding has been dedicated to a high-performance computing system, including the NVIDIA DGX Station supercomputer. The University of Science is the first VNUHCM member institution to operate this platform, enabling advanced research in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

鈥淚 believe these laboratories will be powerful tools for the Faculty of Information Technology to achieve further breakthroughs in scientific research and innovation, while enhancing its academic reputation both nationally and internationally,鈥 said Assoc. Prof. Quan.

The laboratories are equipped with specialised servers, tools for virtual and augmented reality research, human鈥揷omputer interaction technologies, Internet of Things devices, drones, and security-specific instruments. This comprehensive infrastructure provides a foundation for pioneering research directions and for the application and transfer of technology to industry.

Sharing the faculty鈥檚 strategic outlook, Dr. 膼inh B谩 Ti岷縩, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, noted: 鈥淚n line with global scientific and technological trends, our faculty is focusing on three key areas: artificial intelligence, intelligent systems, and information security. These will be the pillars of our research, meeting urgent societal needs and affirming our pioneering role in the digital era.鈥

Alongside equipment investment, the university has created a modern, green and open working environment. The new space is not only designed for research and experimentation but also serves as a hub for academic exchange, connecting students, faculty, researchers and industry partners, and nurturing emerging technological ideas.

The inauguration carried particular symbolic weight, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the Faculty of Information Technology. It marks both a celebration of past achievements and a commitment to future collaboration in research, technology transfer and the training of highly skilled professionals to support Vietnam鈥檚 sustainable development and international integration.

On 20 September, the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology, VNUHCM鈥揢niversity of Science, hosted the workshop 鈥淣anotechnology 鈥 Solutions for Sustainable Agriculture and Environment鈥.
